Sometimes here on Symbiartic we just need to share an amazing image. It's important to slow down every once in a while an appreciate imagery and meaning in the hands of a skilled science artist.

Here's Star Map, a new painting by Diana Sudyka.

About the image, Sudyka says, "Volunteering in the bird division of the Chicago Field Museum of Natural History, one day I overheard an ornithologist explain how some bird use the stars to navigate their migration routes. The phrase he used was 'They are born with a map of the stars.'"

The first time I had seen artwork by Sudyka, she had made donations from sales of an excellent print of Charles Darwin in support of the H.M.S. Beagle Project. Her work has been a delight to follow ever since. Prints of Star Map are available in her online store.
