There has been much talk about new media organizations as of late. Whom and which are innovative enough, new enough, dynamic enough? Diverse enough? Well, it's still too early to call it but I am excited about one of the new new players - OZY.
It stamps it self as Smarter. Fresher. Different. So far, I am feeling it. Last fall Carlos Watson, who spent some time at MSNBC, founded a very fresh perspective new media news start up. OZY (pronounced Ozzie) isn't about breaking news, it's about sharing more in-depth news stories with its readers. Just take a look at the website. The front page features a variety of stories such as biographies, behind-the-scenes, and personal interest stories. From where I sit, it's everything I love about narrative journalism (which I often only get from sources like NPR) on a digital/web format.
OZY enriches its offerings with live-engagement events across the nation. They are calling it OZY Across America and so far they've been to New York City and Washington, DC. Now they return to Carlos Watsons home - The San Francisco Bay - well, so to speak. His career began in Silcon Valley as an entrepreneur. On Thursday, April 3, 2014 OZY Presents aNight With the Stars at Chabot Space & Science Center.

Carlos Watson moderate a conversation about science - what's happening and what's fascinating in research today with Dr. Alex Filippenko, Physicists and member of the 2011 Nobel winning team, and yours truly - hip hop maven and Pouched Rat Wrangler. It should be a fun and engaging evening.
