Unofficial Prognosis
Perceptions and prescriptions of a medical student

Ilana Yurkiewicz is a fourth-year student at Harvard Medical School who created Unofficial Prognosis to capture her reflections through her medical training. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in molecular biology from Yale University, where she did research in genomics and bioinformatics and was Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Scientific Magazine. Following graduation, she received an AAAS Mass Media Fellowship to become a science reporter for The News & Observer in Raleigh, North Carolina and then went on to write for Science Progress in Washington, DC. She has an academic interest in bioethics, currently conducting ethics research at Harvard after previously interning at the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues, and her work has appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine. She is excited to start a career in internal medicine.
