It's Almost Time For Science Online 2013 - Get Your Dancing Shoes Ready!

This article was published in Scientific American’s former blog network and reflects the views of the author, not necessarily those of Scientific American

'Tis the time of year when science geeks from far and wide are packing their bags for the most ridiculously wonderful conference known: Science Online. I, for one, am gearing up for several days of connecting with many of my favorite people on the planet, of learning and sharing, of eating and drinking and of doing a little dancing. If you haven't seen the music video that I created about last year's conference, have a boo here:

For those of you coming to the conference, I hope you will take part in this year's video. We will be taking science to a new level with our version of Gangam Style. I've already assigned parts to many of you, including the incredible Baba Brinkman who will be providing our rap and lyrics. No interested participant will go un-noticed! Anyone who wants to jump in front of my camera is absolutely welcome. I also welcome those of you at any of the Watch Parties to send me footage of your groups dancing. You are all important members of the science online community!

So friends, as we are packing our bags this weekend - please remember to toss in that pair of sparkly dance shoes you thought you'd never wear. Perhaps it's that 70's jumpsuit hiding in your closet, a crazy pair of sunglasses, a wig or a really big hat. You will need them next week.

See you all soon!
