Video of the Week #106, August 21st, 2013:

From: Olinguito: New Kid on the Block by Brian Malow at But Seriously….

Source: North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences

The olinguito has been a science media darling this past week. Newly described by an international team of researchers, this cute little relative to the raccoon has been hiding in plain sight, misidentified, in museum collections and zoos for decades. In this week’s Video of the Week, Brian Malow interviews mammalogist Roland Kays, one of its co-discoverers, about the importance of cloud forests – and natural history collections. A most unusual tale of discovery!
