I was very excited to organize a workshop on Science, Social Media and Diversity at the 50th Annual Meeting of the Animal Behavior Society at the University of Colorado-Boulder. My co-presenter, Samuel Diaz-Munoz of CienciaPR gave an amazing presentation on how a venerable bilingual, culturally relevant science community and outreach vehicle was built via social media.

We are thankful for the support o the Diversity and Latin American Affairs committees of the Animal Behavior Society and special thanks to the Executive Committee of ABS and Noldus Information Technology for financial support of the workshop.

Below are resources from the workshop. There were some people who were so excited about the many possibilities in social media that we were asked to consider a longer, more in-depth workshop in the future.

My presentation which includes links to Getting Started Resources and key peer-reviewed published reports of social media impact on science and science outreach.

#2013ABS Science, Social Media, Diversity from Danielle Lee

We missed Alberto Roca of MinorityPostdoc.org at the Workshop, but he Storified the Tweets of the #2013ABS #SocialMedia session. Thanks, Alberto!
