I did a round of science merit badges earlier this month celebrating people's understanding and appreciation of evolution, vaccines, and climate change. In this second round (of hopefully many more), I focus on chemophobia, the often misunderstood "theory," and the ongoing quest of marine scientists (like David Shiffman of @whysharksmatter) to explain to many Discovery channel lovers that mermaids are, in fact, quite nonexistent.
