James Prosek is best known for his meticulously painted fish images. But his recent foray into sculpture is equally as interesting and thought-provoking. Through the end of September, a variety of his fanciful bone sculptures as well as his fish portraits will be on display at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C.
Prosek’s stunning trout illustrations are contained in this book by the artist: Trout: An Illustrated History
Prosek’s next lushly illustrated book, James Prosek: Ocean Fishes: Paintings of Salt Water Fish is due out in October by Rizzoli International Publications (available for pre-order through Amazon)
Every day in September, we’re bringing you new science-art of the day. How would these images be useful for science communication? STEM education? Enticing people to learn more about science? Do they inspire you or frustrate you? Let us know below!
