The Transuranic Package Transporter (TRUPACT-II) is a specialized tractor-trailor used for radioactive waste. The design for the containers in this rig was originally approved by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission for use in 1989. In this photograph, the TRUPACT-II is shown entering the U.S. Department of Energy’s nuclear waste isolation pilot plant (WIPP) near Carlsbad, New Mexico.
