“Split”, by Stephanie Funk, depicts in watercolor the alienation and disintegration of an alcoholic. The artist comments:

Having suffered the loss of friends and estrangement from family members due to alcoholism, I understand that one does not have to use substances to suffer from abuse and addiction.

The work appeared last week on Cassie Rodenberg’s “White Noise” addiction blog, posing the question: “Should we be more sympathetic towards addicts?”
