As spring settles in, you might find yourself admiring pairs of nesting birds, or gazing up at the stars on an evening stroll. But perhaps you will not have anticipated putting the two together into a fine art print. Artist Diana Sudyka often volunteers at Chicago’s Field Museum of Natural History and as such is privy to behind-the-scenes conversations between scientists. After hearing a couple of ornithologists discussing some birds’ innate ability to navigate using the stars (“they are born with a map of the stars,” is the phrase she remembers them using), Sudyka came up with this illustration.
